Vitae is a mobile app that helps individuals navigate and learn about their mental health holistically and utilize artificial intelligence as a way to get help and advice quickly. Vitae includes a mood tracker, an AI chatbot, a Zen Room, and a journal.

The logo
The inspiration behind the logo type was to represent the meaning of the word "Vitae," which means life. I was struggling to find a balance between Life itself - as in humans, animals, nature, etc., and Living life - as in experiencing, creating memories, etc. In the end, I chose to manipulate the tittle into a star symbolizing renewal, a new chapter, a full life, and the nature of impermanence.
The Brand
Vitaes color palette and typography were approached with femininity in mind. Three typefaces were chosen: Final Six for headlines, Fromage for the logotype, and CoFo Sans for body text. When it came to the color palette, bright, fun colors were chosen, giving Vitae an inviting look and feel.
Process
Beginning research, I searched “mental health apps” in the app store, observed many different ones. Inspiration was drawn from this search and from the wellness apps I personally use. Approaching this design, I kept the apps I liked in mind, creating Vitae with my own style while adhering to the project guidelines. Before the digital process and prototyping, I put together a moodbard and a mindmap.
I had the privilege to discuss AIs place in the healthcare world with the BioRed Hub. We met over WEBx and in person, touring the facility. I was able to gain lots of insight and advice, a key finding being how to avoid sparking paranoia in the users through the AI chat. After about a month-long research process, Vitae began to be built.
